Senior Accountant
The Family Counseling Center of Fulton County, Inc. is dedicated to providing high-quality, client-centered behavioral health services to the community. We are seeking a skilled and strategic Senior Accountant to oversee financial operations and ensure the integrity of our financial reporting. Reporting directly to the Finance Director, you will play a critical role in managing accounting, budgeting, financial analysis, and compliance to support our mission.
Job Summary: As a Senior Accountant, you will lead the financial operations of the organization and oversee a team responsible for accounting activities, budgeting, financial analysis, and compliance with regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting and Analysis:
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Provide variance analysis and financial insights to inform decision-making by executive leadership and the board.
- Develop and implement KPIs to monitor financial performance and operational efficiency.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Assist with the annual budgeting process, collaborating with department heads to develop actionable budgets.
- Monitor budget performance and cash flow, identifying trends and deviations.
- Prepare financial forecasts and scenario analyses to support resource allocation and strategic planning.
Accounting Operations:
- Oversee day-to-day accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
- Ensure accurate recording of financial transactions, reconciliations, and journal entries.
- Maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance.
Financial Compliance and Audit Support:
- Coordinate external audits, including financial statement audits, Medicaid cost reports, and other compliance audits.
- Ensure compliance with Medicaid billing rules, HIPAA regulations, and CCBHC standards.
- Implement policies and procedures to mitigate financial risks.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Hire, train, and supervise accounting staff, providing guidance and professional development opportunities.
- Foster a collaborative and continuous improvement culture within the finance team.
- Promote cross-functional teamwork and communication with other departments.
Other Duties:
- Participate in staff development activities and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Support and adhere to agency compliance plans and standards of conduct.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- 2-5 years of progressive experience in accounting or financial management, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- CPA Preferred
- Thorough understanding of GAAP, financial reporting standards, and internal controls.
- Experience in healthcare finance, preferably in a community behavioral health or nonprofit setting.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Blackbaud, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to communicate financial insights effectively.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.

Work Environment & Schedule: This position operates primarily in an office environment. The role typically requires a 40-hour work week (Monday to Friday), with some flexibility required to meet deadlines or special projects. Attendance at agency recruitment, training, and engagement events is expected, along with quarterly clinical training sessions and scheduled individual supervision.
