Micropolis Art Gallery
Micropolis' guest artist Diane Castle Babcock has been practicing the art of linoleum block printing for almost fifty years. The process she uses is called the reduction method, because she continually cuts away from one block to create a multiple color image. Her images are created in four to six steps of cutting and printing. As the print is created, the block is destroyed, ensuring a limited edition. She chose linoleum block printing as her medium because of its vibrant colors and textural quality. Diane is inspired by what she sees on walks and hikes through the Adirondacks, where she lived for fifteen years, as well Rochester, NY, her current home. Hallmarks of her work include mountain scenes, white birches, and moonlight scenes. She takes photos for reference, but her work represents the feelings and memories a particular place instills in her. Some of her work is specific to a location. Other pieces are a composite of several photos or derived purely from memory and imagination. Her work is Impressionistic because she works with small dots and lines of color, as well as a sense of light and atmosphere. Diane collects birch bark and branches during her hikes, which she incorporates into her prints. She makes birch bark frames and builds shadow boxes with birch branches included in her landscapes. Diane graduated from Nazareth University and Binghamton University with degrees in art and in art education certification. She worked as a visiting artist with Young Audiences of Rochester. She retired from Adirondack High School in Boonville, NY where she taught art. Diane has received awards at the Clothesline Festival, Corn Hill Art Festival, Artists Row, and Colorscape Chenango. She is a juried member of the Roycroft Arts and Craftsmen Guild. In addition to the artwork of the featured artist, the gallery is filled with paintings, drawings, pastels, photographs, fiber art, mixed media, glass, digital art, jewelry, pottery, woodland assemblages, baskets, turned items of exotic wood and fine art cards by the members of Micropolis Cooperative, Inc. The reception is free and open to the public and is part of a broader evening of arts programming in downtown Gloversville. ?Material Conversations,? an exhibition at Glove Cities Gallery, 52 Church St., Gloversville, will also having a receptions from 4:30-7pm. Both shows will run through the end of April. Micropolis, located inside Mohawk Harvest Cooperative Market at 30 N. Main St., Gloversville, is open Monday-Friday / 9am-6pm and Saturdays from 9am until 2pm.

The Glove Theatre is proud to present Nirvani: A Nirvana Tribute Experience. Nirvani is the most authentic and electrifying tribute band to the legendary grunge pioneers, Nirvana. Known for their accurate recreation of the raw, high-energy performances that made Kurt Cobain and company a cultural phenomenon, Nirvani has been selling out venues across the country. From the iconic, distorted guitar riffs to the anguished screams and rebellious spirit, Nirvani brings the music of Nirvana to life in a way that feels as powerful and visceral as it did in the 90s. Nirvani?s live shows are a high-octane journey through all the hits and deep cuts that defined Nirvana?s catalog. With a stage presence that channels the chaotic energy of the original band, they deliver an unforgettable experience, playing fan favorites like ?Smells Like Teen Spirit,? ?Come As You Are,? and ?Heart-Shaped Box,? alongside deeper tracks that true Nirvana fans will love. Their wild stage presence, combined with instrument-smashing finales, ensures no two shows are ever the same. Nirvani: A Nirvana Tribute Experience you won?t forget. THIS IS AN ALL AGES EVENT!

Dead Man's Waltz: Celebrating The Grateful Dead, The Allman Brothers & The Band at The Glove Theatre
The Glove Theatre welcomes back Dead Man?s Waltz ? Saturday, April 11th! Dead Man?s Waltz is a six piece group that explores and celebrates the music of The Grateful Dead and The Allman Brothers Band and The Band. With two powerhouse drummers DMW echoes the line-ups while effortlessly interweaving the grooves and jams of all three iconic bands creating a unique musical experience. Dead Man?s Waltz is an all star collective comprised of seasoned, like minded professional musicians. Members of DMW have shared the stage with members of The Grateful Dead, Dead and Co., The Allman Brothers Band, Phish and MOE. Dead Man?s Waltz is dedicated to presenting the music of The Grateful Dead, The Allman Brothers Band and The Band with genuine respect to the original while not being afraid to interject a little bit of their own in to the mix. This is the free spirited approach the music demands and allows them the freedom to perform a unique and new set list at every show. Interweaving the classic songs and jams of The Grateful Dead, The Allman Brothers Band and The Band, Dead Man's Waltz is an all-star collective from the Northeast festival scene. Dead Man's Waltz features top-notch musicianship and offers a refreshing twist to the music of three legendary and iconic bands. While staying true to the spirit of the music, the band members put their own dynamic spin on a vast catalog of beloved songs that are now part of the new American song book. At its core, DMW is a celebration of the long standing tradition of crossover between The Dead, The Allmans and The Band, culminating with the legendary 1973 Summer Jam Music Festival in Watkin's Glenn, NY where the three bands performed together. DMW's arrangements are experiments, as they easily flow from the familiar to the obscure, moving from standards like ''Jessica'' into ''Going Down The Road Feeling Bad'' into ''Don't Do It'' or ''Up On Cripple Creek'' into ''They Love Each Other'' into ''Midnight Rider''. The band always keeps it fresh with new and unexpected arrangements and improvisations, while engaging fans in the free-spirited party and colorful, close-knit community surrounding their shows. Dead Man's Waltz features the all-star lineup of ''Rev'' Tor Krautter on guitar and vocals, Tom Major on drums, Parker McQueeney on keys and vocals, Wesley Childers on guitar and vocals, Jeff Prescott on drums and vocals, and Brian O'Connell on bass and vocals. Each hail from a unique musical background and adds their own personal style, influence and character to the mix (which is exactly what the music calls for). All ages welcome! 21+ to drink/purchase adult beverages.

Come view the stars and planets in Landis' dark skies with members of the Albany Area Amateur Astronomers. A variety of telescopes will be set up for viewing the heavens, revealing nebulae, star clusters, galaxies, double stars, planets, and other celestial objects. General Star Party information: ? Guests of all ages are always welcome. Club activities, including public Star Parties at Landis Arboretum and the club Annual Meeting, are free and open to the public. ? In cold weather it is very important to dress warmly - and you will NOT be warm if you do not wear a hat. You will be outdoors and it is very easy to get chilled when you are inactive; it feels 15 to 20 degrees colder. Even cool weather requires extra clothing. ? Feel free to bring your own telescope and/or binoculars. We are happy to answer questions about using or buying a telescope. There are many poor quality telescopes and a lot of misleading advertising on the market, so learn the basics before purchasing a telescope. Email safrench@nycap.rr.com for a copy of our brief introduction to telescopes and a buying guide. ? Please do not smoke or vape near the telescopes. Smoke can damage the optical coatings in a telescope. Also avoid applying insect repellents from spray cans when standing near the telescopes. ? Star Parties normally last at least one hour and generally go longer if the sky conditions are good, but there is no guarantee people will still be observing if you arrive more than an hour after the starting time. You can arrive anytime during the star party and stay as long as you want. Please Note: Star Parties are canceled if the skies are mostly cloudy. Please check the Landis website or the club's groupsio chat for updates to the schedule. Will it be clear? Review the current George Landis Arboretum Clear Sky Clock (click on any box several times for a satellite map) For more information on the Albany Area Amateur Astronomers, including activities, membership, and lots of great links, check out the club's website at dudleyobservatory.org/AAAA/

Back To The Garden 1969: The Woodstock Experience
The Glove Theatre can't wait to welcome back - Back to the Garden (BTTG) 1969 - The Woodstock Experience! What a blast we had with them last year! The Woodstock Music Festival was the ultimate rock concert, a celebration of peace, love and music. More than fifty years later, BTTG brings you back to the music and that weekend. Formed by Gary Adamson in 2009, this is a group of versatile musicians and singers who have come together to celebrate the music, and the spirit of the Woodstock Era. BTTG 1969 recreates the classic sounds associated with Woodstock. The musical performances are a tribute to the artists who made Woodstock great, including Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Jimi Hendrix, Sly &The Family Stone, Jefferson Airplane, Santana, Joe Cocker, Janis Joplin, The Band, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Canned Heat, Ten Years After, The Who, Mountain, Richie Havens, Melanie, Arlo Guthrie, Blood, Sweat & Tears, The Grateful Dead, Country Joe & The Fish,?and more! BTTG 1969 brings you a full multimedia theatrical event, recreating the Woodstock Experience through period costuming, lighting, video, and sound bites. Storytelling also enhances the mood, with tales of the festival, the legendary artists who performed, and the backdrop of the tumultuous decade of the 60?s. This is not your typical tribute band! Most tribute bands perform the music of only one artist. BTTG 1969 is a tribute to a very special moment in time, and to the many artists whose music will forever be known as ?Classic Rock.? From nostalgic Baby Boomers to intrigued Gen Z'ers, and all those in between, there is something in this show for EVERYONE! Grab your tie dye and love beads...and come celebrate Woodstock with us at The Glove! All ages welcome! 21+ to drink with valid ID
Organics in the circular economy: How they affect our carbon footprint at Landis Aboretum
Location: The Nicholas J. Juried Meeting House Registration: Free. Donations to the Arboretum greatly appreciated. Join us from 10;00 AM to noon to learn about organic recycling, an important step in effectively reducing our carbon footprint. Organic recycling starts with collection, moving it into our yards, farms or central facilities so it can be processed. Microbes turn our organic waste into a resource and we can help make that happen. We will discuss different ingredients (manures, cloth, food waste, yard waste, livestock mortality..) that we can convert into a product. Compost use is the third leg on the climate footprint stool and really makes an impact. Compost is used in erosion control, growing fruit and vegetables, orchards, agroforestry, organic and conventional farms, rural and urban landscapes. Learn how to use compost blankets, sox, and berms. Organics make up 60 % of our waste, not including livestock manure or humanure (human manure), when they are placed in a landfill to emit greenhouse gases. Using compost is the key to reducing our carbon footprint by 3x more than compost processing itself. Instructor: Jean Bonhotal, Cornell University, has 30 years experience in organics recycling with Cornell Waste Management Institute. This event is free for all participants.

Pinkster Azalea: A story of a unique plant, local history, the Dutch community, and slavery. at Landis Arboretum
Location: The Nicholas J. Juried Meeting House Registration: Arboretum members: individual $5, family $15; nonmembers individual $5, family $15 Our native Pinkster azaleas and the word Pinkster hold a unique place in local and New York State history. During the 1700s and 1800s, the word ''Pinkster'' was associated with a weeklong Dutch celebration of Pentecost that eventually evolved into a significant holiday for enslaved people. Once a major East Coast festival, it is now nearly forgotten. The term ''Pinkster azalea'' refers to two distinct species of Rhododendron that are native to New York. This class explores how to identify these plants and where to find them in the wild. Additionally, the course offers a glimpse into our regional history, covering the intersection of Dutch traditions, early festivals, and the experience of slavery.
Against The Grayne: 90s Grunge & Alt Rock at The Glove Theatre
The Glove proudly welcomes back Against the Grayne for a night of 90s grunge, alt rock and beyond. Against the Grayne plays your favorites from the era with a few ?odds? thrown in for fun!! It?s going to be an awesome time! Here?s what Penny Piper/RadioRadiox.com had to say about last year?s show at The Glove: ?Let me just say it: Against The Grayne is the ?90s grunge cover band you didn?t know you needed in your life until you see them live. As a proud Gen Xer who came of age during the golden era of flannel, distortion, and angsty lyrics, their performance at the Glove Theatre on April 4 [2025] transported me straight back to 1993 in the best way possible. These guys don?t just play the music?they embody it. Covering artists like Layne Staley and Chris Cornell is no small feat. You need nerves of steel and actual talent to pull it off, and lead singer Luke Baird has both in spades. His voice has that deep, smooth edge that makes you do a double-take, and he?s got the guts to get up there and own it. It?s not just about hitting the notes?it?s about capturing the raw emotion and energy of an era, and Luke does just that.? ?The setlist was flawless, hitting all the essentials?from Alice In Chains to Sublime?and even throwing in a few surprises. When they busted out Montell Jordan?s ?This Is How We Do It,? the crowd absolutely lost it. Everyone was on their feet, screaming the lyrics and dancing like it was the summer of ?95 again. That moment? Pure magic. But what really sets Against the Grayne apart is who they are. They?re the real deal: warm, kind, hilarious, and totally engaged with the crowd. Their stage presence was as entertaining as their music. Between songs, they had us laughing, sharing stories, and feeling like we were part of the show. It?s rare to see a band that talented also be that down-to-earth?and it?s why I felt compelled to write this.? Against the Grayne headlined an evening at Cohoes Rock the Block summer series in 2023, 2024 and 2025! Dig out the flannels, ripped jeans and combat boots and come have a fun night with us enjoying your favorites from the 90s! This show is sponsored by the Glove?s 518 Concert Series ? support live local 518 music!!!! All ages welcome! 21+ to drink with valid I.D.

The Joni Project: A Celebration of The Music of Joni Mitchell at The Glove Theatre
The Glove Theatre is proud to welcome THE JONI PROJECT -- CELEBRATING THE MUSIC OF JONI MITCHELL featuring Katie Pearlman and her band! The Joni Project is thrilled to be making their Gloversville debut! The Joni Project formed as a tribute in sound and spirit to Joni Mitchell, one of music?s greatest and most innovative artists. The band is fronted by New York's remarkable multi-instrumentalist and singer Katie Pearlman, who impressively plays Joni's songs in their original open guitar tunings; and includes jazz and jam band mainstays Dave Berg (guitar), Dan Ehrlich (bass), Alan Lerner (drums), Mark Mancini (keyboards), and Premik Russell Tubbs (saxophone and flute). Collectively, they?ve performed with members of the Grateful Dead, The Band, The Doors, the Neville Brothers, and so many others. Premik Russell Tubbs alone has played with Carlos Santana, Whitney Houston, Sting, James Taylor, Lady Gaga, Herbie Hancock, and more. Together, they bring fresh interpretation to Joni?s legendary tunes from their many eras and genres ? particularly from the time of her stunning and dynamic collaboration with Jaco Pastorius, Pat Metheny and Michael Brecker. But The Joni Project celebrates it all! - from Both Sides Now, Big Yellow Taxi, Chelsea Morning and Help Me, to Raised on Robbery and Free Man in Paris. If you're a fan of Joni Mitchell, or if you just enjoy a brilliant jazz/jam inspired band, this is a show you won't want to miss! ''The Joni Project is quite simply the finest and most musically sophisticated tribute to Joni on the scene today!'' - Jim Faith - New York concert promoter and producer of The Great South Bay Music Festival. This is what separates The Bell Bottom Blues from all others and makes us unique in the market. Audiences and fans say that ?they close their eyes during a show and swear that are at a Clapton concert?. That's what the band sets out to achieve. Through each band member?s dedication, professionalism, and hard work, they've captured the sound and essence of the master himself through his various stages, from Cream, the Dominoes, and through his entire solo career. Our ''Eric Claption'' captures his guitar styling AND his vocal sound, which allows BBB to truly pay tribute to this rock and blues icon. BBB's goal is to allow audiences to really feel like they are participating in an actual EC live event. They've played at many notable venues including Iridium NYC, BB Kings NYC, City Winery, Havana?s PA, New Hope Winery PA, Mcloone?s Supper Club NJ, The Stone Pony, Daryl?s House, Infinity Theater Ct, Courthouse Center for Arts Ri, Count Basie Theater NJ, Tally Ho Theater VA, Downtown Cabaret Ct, Lamp Theater PA, Paramount Theater NY, Dean Center PA, The Amp Theater DC, Dean Center MA, Tin Pan VA, Grand Casino, Harrah's Casino, Empire City Casino, Resorts Casino, Foxwoods Casino, Hard Rock Casino, and Outdoor Summer Concert Series along the east. BBB was recently endorsed by Bobby Whitlock, Co-founder of Derek & The Dominos and co-writer with Clapton on the Layla Album. ?The best Dominos band I ever heard? ~Bobby Whitlock. We can't wait to have BBB play on The Glove's stage! All ages welcome! 21+ to drink/purchase adult beverages.

Best Friends Girl: America's Favorite Cars Experience
The Glove Theatre is proud to present Best Friends Girl ? America?s favorite CARS experience. Best Friends Girl recreates the timeless hits of The Cars spanning their 35-year career, with over 23 million albums sold and having more than 22 songs on the Billboard top 100. The Cars undoubtedly left their mark in popular culture with notable hits like ?Best Friend?s Girl,? ?Shake It Up,? ?Magic,? ?Let?s Go? and of course, ?Moving in Stereo? which gained notoriety from its placement in the movie ?Fast Times at Ridgemont High.? Best Friends Girl are comprised of lifelong, top-notch, professional musicians whose goal is to keep the music of The Cars alive with every performance! The Cars' journey began with Ric Ocasek and Benjamin Orr collaborating on several projects in the early 70's. Ric and Benjamin eventually completed the lineup with Greg Hawkes, Elliot Easton, and David Robinson in Boston in 1976. In the confusion left behind from the death of disco and the angst of punk, they forged a new direction bringing together the synthesizer sound with classic rock and roll roots. It created a unique sound for the time and icon John Lennon became a fan stating, ''I think The Cars? 'Touch and Go' is right out of the fifties ?Oh, oh?? A lot of it is fifties stuff. But with eighties styling.? Meet the Band: John Starr - Lead Vocals, Rhythm Guitar Like many young kids John's family thought it would be smart for him to learn how to play guitar, so at age 4 he began the roller coaster ride that has brought him here today. The lessons were a chore until he met a few friends that could play some instruments and then they put together a band and became musicians. Then in 7th grade he stepped on stage for the first time and the love affair began. Since then there have been thousands of stages and many different musician friends but the thrill has never gone away. Touring with several main stream acts playing guitar, bass or vocals, performing music has always been challenging and very rewarding. Along the way there has been a lot of song writing and also wearing the hat of a producer for some really cool acts. Now with Best Friends Girl he has settled down with 4 very talented professionals and loves every second that they get to perform together. The energy and the enjoyment have come full circle since the little boy first picked up his guitar. Kevin Gallagher - Lead Guitar Gary Bonneau - Bass Born in Brooklyn New York and raised in the Pocono Mountains. My oldest brothers album collection was all i needed to be aware of how music moved me. With an acoustic guitar always lying about, i started to figure out pieces of songs and that was the beginning. In 1988 a friend asked if i wanted to join his band, but i had to play bass. so i traded my guitar stuff for a bass. i just went into the woodshed for a month and did the show. Loved it. During the 90?s i played in various cover and original bands from the Poconos, gigging the trip-state area. In early 2000 i hooked up with a couple of friends to work on original music and we became Eight Days Gone. Management, a recording contract and small tours (Buffalo to L.A) was very cool and made all the hard work worth every minute. Always Loved The Cars, saw them live, and excited to be in this band with this class of Musicians. Mike Weber - Drums Mike Weber started out playing drums when his father sat him down at a drum set at age 7. From then on, he spent just about every day after school playing to albums like the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin and Beach Boys. He continued to perform in school bands as well as local groups. Through his adult musical career, Mike has toured regionally and nationally, worked as a session musician and played in many original and cover bands. His musical career has afforded him to see many places and meet many fine people. ''I would not trade these experiences for anything else and feel very lucky to have this talent'' he states. Mike's musical journey has also led him to build a professional recording studio where he can expand his musical roots to music recording, engineering and production. Tom Wooley - Keyboards For about as long as he can remember, Tom has been fascinated by synthesizers and organs or any other keyboard based instrument that produces sound through electricity. By around the age of 12, he discovered Keith Emerson and that was it . . . playing keyboards became an obsession. Tom is a 30 plus year veteran of the NJ/NY music scene and has performed live or provided session work for countless original and cover acts over the years. He has worked with several tribute bands including The Reagans (80?s), Us Not Them (Pink Floyd), Evil Ways (Santana), Presence (Led Zeppelin), and Beginnings (Chicago). His love of quirky synthesizer sounds makes him a natural fit for The Best Friends Girl. Tom holds a degree in music composition and still composes/records whenever time permits. He is a voracious lover of all music styles and will happily listen to anything that doesn?t suck. He manages a well established music store when not on stage. He?s happily married with two outstanding teenage daughters. All ages welcome! 21+ to purchase adult beverages with a valid ID.
