What does a Behavioral Intervention Specialist do?

The Behavior Intervention Specialist (BIS) at The Arc Lexington is responsible for meeting the mental, emotional and social health needs of the people we support. This is done through assessment, development and implementation of behavioral intervention plans, individual counseling, group counseling, and crisis intervention services. The BIS is also responsible for providing training and guidance to all staff working with the people we support in these areas.

Qualifications:

  • A Master's degree in Psychology or Social Work is required.
  • Experience in working with people with disabilities preferred.
  • A valid NYS driver's license that meets Agency standards is required.
  • Use of own vehicle is required.
