Assistant Director of IT

Physical Requirements: Employee is regularly required to sit at a computer for extended periods of time. Ability to work in a confined area. Moderate noise level (business office with computers, phone and printers). Ability to lift 20 pounds on occasion. Stand, walk, kneel and bend.

Hours of Work: 8:30am - 4:30pm Monday through Friday, Scheduled On-Call 1 week/month.

Pay Range: The pay range is $69,732 to $97,200

Job Summary:

To oversee day-to-day operations and infrastructure of the organization. Oversee designated capital IT projects and drive to completion. Assist in strategic planning by meeting with department managers to align systems with business objectives. Spec, bid and procure hardware and software for IT initiatives. Oversee hardware/software licensing and support renewals. Directly supervise network and PC staff ensuring IT infrastructure is up-to-date and running efficiently. This includes managing software updates, hardware upgrades, and ensuring that all systems comply with security standards. Provides support for helpdesk and network staff and end users. Schedule and manage after-hours upgrades/troubleshooting. Provide infrastructure services in: Storage, Networking, Operating System, Network, Directory Services, Server Virtualization, Disaster Recovery, Application installation and configuration and patch management. Configure, test and maintain Server & network equipment.

 

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in related field or equivalent experience/certifications

(5 years experience with any of the following combination of certificates.

    • CITM or CISM or ITMLP
    • A+, NET+, SEC+.
    • ITIL, PMP
  • Minimum 3 years managerial and supervisory experience demonstrating the ability to lead a team, manage projects, resolve conflicts, and effectively communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong project management experience with proven ability to drive complex projects to completion.
  • Proficiency in managing cross-functional teams with strong communication skills.
  • Experience managing Microsoft Server environments with Active Directory
  • Strong knowledge of Network Technologies: LAN, WAN, VPN, DNS, DHCP, VLANs and Windows Server OS
  • Strong knowledge of Network Management, Server Virtualization, IT Security, Connectivity Testing, Diagnostics and Monitoring, Equipment Installation and Configuration.
  • Experience with enterprise IT Service Management and ticketing systems.
  • Detail oriented, proactive and thorough.
  • Critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills are essential.
  • Valid NYS drivers license that meets agency standards and reliable transportation.
  • Must read, write and speak the English language.
 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Supervise team of exempt and non-exempt staff. Manage and prioritize projects and drive to completion. Train IT staff and users as appropriate.
  • Interface with all departments to align IT strategy to business objectives.
  • Oversee all IT support to ensure customer satisfaction and ensure SLAs are met.
  • Participate in regular strategic planning with IT Director to meet agency's technology needs.
  • Manage all software/hardware licenses/support renewals.
  • Participate in IT department budget planning and ensure financial goals are met.
  • Monitors security procedures and safeguards and oversee regular security audits.
  • Proactively analyzes support needs and takes remedial action when needed recommends additional equipment and capacities when necessary.
