Ward Clerk

The Ward Clerk performs defined clerical and receptionist functions on a nursing unit in order to provide an organized and efficient atmosphere in which to deliver patient care. Work is performed under the supervision of a Registered Nurse in accordance with established hospital standards, nursing department structure, process and outcome standards, regulatory and accreditation requirements, and the philosophy, goals, and objectives of the hospital and Nursing department, taking into account the individual patient’s special physical or age-related needs.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Possess previous experience in a healthcare setting.

EDUCATION:

  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent. 
  • Employee is trained and prepared to provide non-direct care for the age-specific group on their assigned unit.

KNOWLEDGE: 

  • Possess knowledge necessary to provide non-direct care appropriate to the age of the patients served on their assigned unit. 
  • Possess a working knowledge of OSHA, infection control, safety, body mechanics, accreditation requirements, scope of practice.

ABILITIES:

  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with thoroughness and accuracy. 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality. 
  • Ability to manage several responsibilities simultaneously. 
  • Ability to perform the skills necessary to provide non-direct care appropriate to the age of the patients served on their assigned unit.

PREFERRED: 

  • Possess a medical terminology course.
  • Computer knowledge of Meditech system (order management/POM).
  • Previous experience as a Ward Clerk or Medical Office Coordinator or equivalent.

STATUS: FULL-TIME   |   SHIFT: 2:45 PM – 11:15 PM

RATE OF PAY: $15.86 – $17.99 / HOUR
