Patient Access Representative
JOB PURPOSE: The purpose of this job is to perform all aspects of patient intake from scheduling appointments, insurance verification, pre-registration, pre-certification, medical necessity verification and copay/deductible collection.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Schedules patients for test adhering to established policy and procedures. Obtains, name, date of birth, social security number, address, clinical history and insurance information. *Pre-registers patients and obtains all detailed insurance information. Collects any copays/deductibles at time of pre-registration. Obtains diagnosis information and completes medical necessity verification. Performs insurance verification and pre-certification, when applicable. Interviews patients and obtains all necessary information to register patient for services.
EDUCATION: Possess a High School diploma or equivalent required.
PREFFERED:
- Possess one (1) or two (2) years of college with completion of an approved program in medical terminology.
- Possess prior experience with patient scheduling or unit coordinator.
- Knowledge of third-party payors desired.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION: None required.
EXPERIENCE: Possess previous experience in health care delivery system with exposure to patient registration.
SHIFT: 9:30 AM – 6:00 PM STATUS: 40 hours (full-time)
SALARY: $17.71 – $20.71 / HOUR
