The Arc Lexington is looking for a Director of Maintenance & Facilities

Make a Difference Where It Matters

Lexington is seeking a seasoned Director of Maintenance & Facilities to lead the care, safety, and functionality of the spaces that support our mission and the people we serve. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who takes pride in creating safe, efficient, and welcoming environments-and who understands that well-maintained facilities are essential to quality services and dignity.

What You'll Do

The Director of Maintenance & Facilities will ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of our buildings and grounds in support of our mission. This role is responsible for overseeing day-to-day facilities operations, setting priorities and timelines, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations, and fostering a culture where well-maintained environments directly support dignity, inclusion, and quality services.

The Director manages maintenance teams, contractors, and vendors; oversees budgets and purchasing; and leads renovations, capital improvements, and preventative maintenance initiatives. Working closely with leadership and internal partners, this position identifies opportunities to improve systems, strengthen safety practices, and enhance operational efficiency-ensuring that the spaces where people live, work, and receive support are safe, welcoming, and mission-aligned.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree preferred in engineering, construction management, facilities management, project management, or related field; equivalent combination of technical training and progressive leadership experience will be considered.
  • Minimum 5 years of facilities maintenance or construction leadership experience, including supervision of staff, multi-site operations, vendor management, and capital project coordination.
  • Demonstrated experience with preventative maintenance programs, regulatory compliance, and budget oversight required.
  • Valid NYS driver's license with a safe driving record

Work Environment

This role involves both office and on-site work, including facility inspections indoors and outdoors. Occasional evenings, weekends, or on-call availability may be required.
