Join a Mission-Driven HR Team that Changes Lives

At The Arc Lexington, we know that how we support our employees directly impacts how we support the people we serve. We're looking for an experienced Assistant Director of Human Resources to lead the day-to-day systems and programs that support our workforce.

This is an on-site leadership position supporting employees across our operations in Albany, Schoharie, and Fulton Counties, allowing some flexibility to your primary office location.

The role oversees benefits, leave management, and HR systems, making sure these areas run smoothly and are easy for employees to understand and use.

This is a key role within HR. You'll work closely with HR leadership, Finance, Payroll, and IT to improve processes, strengthen systems, and make better use of data to support our employees.

What You'll Do

  • Provide leadership for employee benefits programs, ensuring they are compliant, cost-effective, and aligned with organizational goals. Oversee annual open enrollment, manage vendor relationships, analyze utilization and trends, and develop communication strategies that help employees make informed decisions about their benefits.
  • Oversee the administration of FMLA, Paid Family Leave, disability, workers' compensation, and other leave programs. Ensure consistent application of policies, mitigate organizational risk, and create a supportive employee experience while maintaining compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to optimize HRIS functionality, system integrations, and business processes. Champion data integrity, streamline workflows, and develop meaningful dashboards and analytics that support workforce planning, operational decision-making, and organizational performance.
  • Serve as a key HR leader by coaching and supporting HR team members, enhancing HR processes and service delivery, and partnering with leaders to address employee relations matters. Support investigations, conflict resolution, and performance management efforts while promoting a positive and compliant workplace culture.
  • Collaborate with leadership on workforce planning, retention, engagement, compliance, and talent initiatives. Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and help implement solutions that strengthen the employee experience and support organizational objectives.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive HR experience, including supervisory responsibility
  • Demonstrated experience in benefits administration and HR operations
  • Experience with HRIS implementation, integration, or optimization
  • Strong knowledge of leave management programs (FMLA, Paid Family Leave, disability)
  • Experience in healthcare, human services, or nonprofit settings preferred
