Boat Technician Apprentice-Full Time

The Apprentice works under close observation and guidance of an experienced Service Technician in either the RV or Marine Service department.  They will gradually increase personal and team production while performing maintenance, repairs, and installations on company and customer RVs, vehicles, or Marine units, with a focus on efficiency, safety, and cleanliness.

Typically following two seasons in an Apprentice role, promotion to Service Technician is available upon demonstration through written and hands-on testing, that they are qualified to independently perform all Technician functions.   

Pay: $18-$22/hour based on previous work experience

Job Duties:

  • Follow trainer’s instruction for personal, teammate, vehicle, and work environment safety
  • Working with a trainer, test, diagnose, and make repairs using diagnostic tools, and according to manufacturer’s instructions and mechanical knowledge and skills
  • Learn to read estimates, identify damage, and make recommendations for needed repairs and maintenance
  • Become proficient in installation of equipment and accessories onto vehicles and units; test for proper function and provide instructions to the customer on proper use and care
  • Take responsibility for, and complete all required written, online and instructional training material as requested; participate in all hands-on skill assessments and communicate learning concerns to trainer
  • Safely transport vehicles to and from repair areas
  • Assist the parts team in expediting needed parts and materials to avoid time delays
  • Perform light indoor shop maintenance
  • Perform housekeeping in the service shop, such as sweeping and general cleaning, throughout the workday
  • Record and report description of any external damage discovered to vehicles

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma
  • Experience using basic hand and power tools
  • Building trades, automotive, or mechanical experience helpful

  • Experience in following verbal and written guidelines to perform job functions

 

Physical and Environmental Conditions:

  • Talking and hearing, walking and sitting, using hands to grasp, pushing, pulling, climbing, crouching, kneeling, and reaching with arms/hands, are required.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally, and up to 20 pounds frequently, to move objects.
  • Exposure to some inside and outside adverse environmental conditions, such as fumes, dust, oils and lubricating fluids, mechanical moving parts, moving vehicles, fluctuating weather conditions, and occasional hazardous chemicals or materials.
