Reports To: Supervising Dental Assistant
Hours of Work: Full-time, 40 hours per week
Physical Requirements: Ability to assist with the transfer of patients
Pay Range: $20.32-$27.49
Job Summary
The Dental Assistant is a key member of the dental team. This position plays a vital role in supporting our clinical staff, assisting with patient care, and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations of the dental department.
Job Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 1 year of experience in a dental setting and/or direct care experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred. On site training available.
- Dental Assistant Certification preferred.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language.
Major Responsibilities
- Provide direct chairside assistance to Dentists, Hygienists during clinical procedures.
- Assist patients to and from the operatory and help with scheduling future appointments in coordination with clinical and front desk staff.
- Deliver post-care instructions to patients and assist with dental pre-medication processes, referrals, and prescription requests as directed.
- Prepare and disinfect operatories before and after patient visits and at the start and end of each day.
- Maintain cleanliness and sterilization of all dental equipment and areas, including x-ray, laboratory, and utility rooms.
- Perform daily equipment checks and complete required operational logs.
- Monitor inventory; order, receive, and restock supplies and instruments to ensure all are current and available.
- Review and update patient charts to ensure accuracy and completeness of dental records.
- Ensure all duties are performed in accordance with New Dimensions in Health Care Policy and applicable Federal and State laws and regulations.
- Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor in all interactions with patients, families, coworkers, and visitors.
