The Family Counseling Center of Fulton County Inc is a leading mental health care provider committed to delivering compassionate and effective outpatient counseling services to individuals in our community. We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behavioral Health Counselor to join our team. You will play a crucial role in providing counseling and therapy services to clients with a diverse range of mental health needs. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals struggling with mental health issues while working within a supportive and collaborative team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, including providers, therapists, and peers, to ensure coordinated care for clients.
  • Participate in clinical supervision, staff meetings, and professional development activities as required.
  • Uphold ethical standards and confidentiality guidelines in all interactions with clients and colleagues.

Crisis Intervention:

  • Provide immediate support and intervention to individuals experiencing mental health crises, including but not limited to suicidal ideation, self-harm, and acute distress.
  • Conduct thorough assessments to determine the level of risk and appropriate intervention strategies.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to ensure comprehensive care and safety planning for clients in crisis.

Solution-Focused Brief Therapy:

  • Conduct solution-focused brief therapy sessions with clients to identify strengths, resources, and goals.
  • Utilize evidence-based therapeutic techniques to help clients develop practical solutions to their immediate challenges.
  • Empower clients to enhance their problem-solving skills and resilience through brief therapeutic interventions.

Individual Counseling:

  • Provide individual counseling sessions to clients accessing services, focusing on addressing specific mental health concerns and promoting well-being.
  • Utilize a person-centered approach to establish rapport, build trust, and create a supportive therapeutic relationship with clients.
  • Assist clients in exploring their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and facilitate the development of coping strategies and self-care practices.

Psychoeducation and Group Facilitation:

  • Conduct psychoeducational sessions and group activities to enhance clients' understanding of mental health issues, coping skills, and self-care strategies.
  • Facilitate approved support groups and therapeutic groups to foster peer support, connection, and skill-building among clients.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related field required.
  • Previous experience working in an outpatient mental health or behavioral setting preferred.
  • Desired experience involves activities such as assessing individual and family needs, strengths and limitations; assisting in the development of treatment plans; providing counseling to promote mental, emotional, physical and social functioning; helping individuals and families access supportive services; coordinating and evaluating services, programs and support systems; and providing support, advocacy and referral as appropriate.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in maintaining accurate and confidential client records.
