Vehicle Mechanic Supervisor

Reports To: Director of Facility Management

Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 50 Lbs

Hours of Work: Full time 40 hours per week. M-F 8:00-4:30

Pay Range: The pay range is $22.85-31.87

 

Job Summary:

Responsible to perform satisfactory vehicle repair and maintenance to ensure road worthiness and safety of any vehicles assigned for services. Complete appropriate logs, records and safety inspections as required.

 

Job Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma or GED required.
  2. Auto Tech certification or Associates degree in field preferred.
  3. Five years' experience in automotive repair and maintenance. One year experience in supervisory role, automotive field preferred.
  4. Experience in repair and maintaining air brakes.
  5. Possess or has the ability to obtain Class B license and DOT 19A qualified driver.
  6. Knowledge and experience to utilize vehicle scanner technology to diagnose vehicle malfunction and repair.
  7. Possess or has the ability to obtain NYS DMV Inspectors Certification for light and heavy trucks.
  8. Possess or has the ability to obtain EPA Certification in air conditioning repair and maintenance.
  9. Experience working on wheelchair lifts and with wheelchair securement preferred.
  10. Must be able to read, write and speak the English language.
  11. Valid NYS Driver's License
 

Major Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible to supervise and direct work for vehicle mechanics.
  2. Obtain and maintain NYS DMV inspector certificate for light and heavy vehicles.
  3. Responsible for maintaining purchase requests for Transportation Department and submitting to supervisor or business office as necessary.
  4. Perform NYS DMV Inspections on Agency vehicles within scope of certification and compliance.
  5. Maintain and repair vehicle lifts, wheelchair securements and other vehicle accessories.
  6. Maintain Class B, CDL 19A qualifications to provide backup driver responsibilities as required.
  7. Maintain and monitor shop and immediate work area in safe manner. Report any and all safety issues to Supervisor immediately.
  8. Responsible to provide all personal hand tools required to perform the job.
  9. Participate in development of Department annual budget and Agency purchases of vehicles.
