Hiring range: $ 29.60- $39.59
Below are the shift differentials based on eligible shifts worked:
- Weekday evening shift - additional 10%
- Weekday night shift - additional 15%
- Weekend day shift - additional 10%
- Weekend evening & night shifts - additional 21%
The actual compensation for this position will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
Responsibilities:
- Prepares surgical operating suite with sterile and non-sterile instruments and supplies.
- Hands required and requested instruments and supplies to surgeon during surgery.
- Assists with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
- Maintains instruments in an organized manner and monitors and tracks instruments counts throughout procedures.
- Assists surgeons’ provision of hemostasis during surgery.
Education:
- High school diploma/GED required.
- Has successfully completed a nationally accredited educational program for surgical technologists and holds and maintains a certified surgical technologist credential administered by a nationally accredited surgical technologist credentialing organization; has completed an appropriate training program for surgical technology in the United States Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, or Public Health Service Commissioned Corps; provides evidence
that the person was employed as a surgical technologist in a healthcare facility for a cumulative period of one year, occurring within the four years immediately prior to January 1, 2015; or is in the service of the federal government, to the extent the person is performing duties related to that service. - New graduates may not be employed to practice for more than twelve a month period immediately following successful completion of a surgical technology program without documentation that the employee holds and maintains a certified surgical technologist credential administered by a nationally accredited surgical technologist credentialing organization
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
- Required Credential(s):
BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse credentialed from the New York Board of Nursing.
Certifications / Licensure:
- Practical/Vocational Nurse credentialed from New York State obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
- BLS Provider obtained within three (3) Months (90 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
