Production Supervisor
Century Linen & Uniform is Seeking a Production Supervisor for our 125 Balzano Drive. Johnstown, NY 12095 Location.
1st Shift - working from 4 am -1:30 pm - OT Required.
Salary Position - Commiserate with Experience.

Job Summary:
As a Production Supervisor, you will play a vital role in leading our production team to ensure seamless operations, exceptional quality, and efficient output. Your expertise in team management, process optimization, and adherence to policies will be instrumental in achieving our production goals while maintaining a safe and productive work environment
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Team Development:
Lead, mentor, and guide the team members, fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Provide direction and support to enhance the skills and performance of team members.
Operational Excellence:
- Manage daily production output, maintaining a high standard of quality and meeting customer orders efficiently.
- Develop and implement effective scheduling strategies to ensure smooth operations and maximum productivity.
- Compliance and Safety:
Uphold and enforce compliance with company policies and legal regulations, promoting a culture of ethics and accountability.
- Lead and oversee team members safety programs, mitigating risks, preventing accidents, injuries, and damage.
- Development and Training:
Spearhead the development and training of team members to drive continuous improvement and growth within the organization.
- Identify skill gaps and implement training initiatives to enhance the capabilities of the production team.
- Effective Communication: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, to ensure smooth communication and alignment of production priorities.
- Problem Solving and Conflict Resolution:
Utilize strong problem-solving skills to address challenges in the production process, fostering innovative solutions to maintain operational efficiency.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
The primary duty of this position is management. The Production Supervisor oversees the activities of plant lead associates and associates, and serves a critical role in their hiring, training, scheduling, performance evaluation and management, task assignment, discipline, and if necessary, recommending and communicating their termination. Production Supervisors should be prepared to manage an entire team (or multiple teams) that reports directly to them.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- 2+ years of progressive production experience and responsibilities
- Able to balance and achieve positive results in the areas of safety, quality, productivity, cost, and employee relations
- Knowledge of plant equipment and safety methods
- Experience improving a system of production control, standard operating procedure, safety, and quality control
- Good communication and human relations skills
- Strong teamwork skills- ready and willing to work closely with team members
- Quality orientation and high attention to detail
- Able to manage multiple tasks and priorities and easily adapt to changing situations
- Open to and able to work either shift (day shift is 6am to about 3pm and 2nd shift from 3pm and on), and willing to rotate shifts depending on production need
- Open to long hours and working weekends (Sat/Sun)
- Must be able to assist Shift Manager in improving a system of production control, standard operating procedure, safety, quality control, and performance management
- Must have transportation
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supervising operations within a manufacturing/industrial plant/facility, including managing production and employees, scheduling, training, meeting deadlines and project schedules
- Experience in performance management and increasing subordinates' skills and capabilities
- Process improvement experience with one of the following: lean manufacturing (Kaizen, 5S) or Six Sigma
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
Travel Required:
Training off site at our largest production facility in Sommerville, MA.
Must have own transportation and a Valid license
Physical Requirements:
The position requires constant standing, walking, and the ability to lift and handle material and moving carts with weights up to 50-75 lbs.
Work Environment:
This position exists primarily within the plant environment, with periodic office work. The plant environment can be loud, hot, has wet areas, chemicals, and other hazards.
