General Manager
Century Linen & Uniform LLC. is looking for a General Manager for the most technologically advanced commercial laundry facility in the Northeast.
The General Manager needs to be involved in day-to-day operations and available on call when needed to assist with production issues, emergencies and other unplanned events that effect our customer's needed.
The Primary Working hours for the General Manager will be 1st Shift Monday-Friday.
This facility hours are from 4am-11pm M-F and Saturdays as needed to meet production goals.
Job Summary:
This position is responsible for implementing operational strategy and leading all operations, customer support, delivery and administration efforts within the plant and surrounding area. Specifically, this position is responsible for implementing operational strategy and leading all operations, customer support, delivery, and administration efforts within the plant and surrounding area. The General Manager must ensure effective teamwork between operations, delivery, logistics, and sales and service.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Recruit and build a high performing operations team, as well as consistently reinforcing teamwork among team members
- Build motivation among team members to achieve plant financial targets
- Lead all operations, customer support, administrative, and delivery employees in the plant or at the customer's location(s) in order to accomplish the goals and objectives of the Company
- Drive results of the strategic business operations plan through continuous improvement and leadership accountability in the following areas: safety, quality, delivery, cost, people, and growth
- Build, maintain and promote positive relationships with Service and Sales personnel to ensure the highest levels of product quality, service, and customer satisfaction
- Research, plan and manage plant costs including linen, labor, utilities, transportation, and production supplies, in order to effectively manage company assets within budget while maintaining a highly efficient operation
- Monitor and ensure all regulatory compliance requirements impacting operations in coordination with Legal, EHS, and all Federal and State laws
- Implement and maintain a predictive and preventative maintenance program
- Build positive relationships with all employees including Union representatives
- Ensure company development initiatives are carried out to their fullest, including Safety-Work observation, preventative maintenance, lean enterprise principles, Customer for Life meetings, etc.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
The General Manager is responsible for supervising Shift Managers, Production Supervisors, Shift Supervisors.
Travel Required:
- 15% - 25% depending upon location.
Physical Requirements:
Sitting for up to 8 hours a day, continuous standing for periods up to 4 hours at a time, bending is required periodically, driving for work related up to 9 hours for training and/or to job locations, ability to observe details at all ranges; constantly operates a computer; must be able to remain stationary position 50% of time.
Work Environment:
The working environment is indoors and is seasonally heated and cooled with minimal noise levels.
The position requires the ability to communicate in person, telephonically and via email. The noise level in the work environment is low to moderate. Lifting to 30lbs. PPE is required in certain parts of the plant. Climbing stairs, using a keyboard, reach above shoulder, and use of computer mouse are required. Main office is at the team member residency. Able to travel between locations and classes.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- B.A. or B.S. degree in engineering, business management or related field
- 10+ years management experience at a Plant Manager level or higher
- Lean principles experience (Value Stream Mapping, 5S, Kaizen Event Planning and Facilitation, Sales & Operations Planning, One-Piece Flow, Line Balancing, Theory of Constraints-based Capacity Planning, etc.)
- Excellent business acumen, strategic planning, multi-tasking, and problem-solving skills
- Proven ability to managing P&L financial statements
- Ability to effectively interact with customers, suppliers, and employees
- Proficient in MS Office products
- Proven knowledge, experience, and a history of success in operational management
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills (verbal and written)
Preferred Qualifications:
• College degree in finance, business, or engineering
• Broad leadership experience in a healthcare services setting
• Experience with Unions • Lean Principles training
• Six Sigma training
• Prior experience managing multiple facilities
• Knowledge of laundry or other processing equipment
