Spring 2025 HVAC Exam at SUNY FMCC
SUNY FMCC will be holding an A2L LOW GWP Refrigerant study session/proctored exam, open to the community and HVAC technicians to register. $75 includes study exam, test fee, and study session with instructor the morning of the exam. Saturday, April 26th - Study Session 9am, Proctored Exam 12pm (A2L LOW GWP) Register: https://apply.fmcc.edu/register/HVACExams2025 Upon registration, you will be contacted with instructions for payment and to arrange receiving your study guide, with instructions for the test day and location. Annual Spring Hawk Watch & Hawk Identification Workshop at Landis Arboretum
Join us for this annual nature event at the Arboretum, a day observing hawks in migration over the Schoharie Valley. We will gather at the Meeting House and hope to see bald eagles, sharp-shinned hawks, osprey, and the longest travelers, broad-winged hawks - among other raptors on the move. The Watch begins at 10:00 AM and continues all day until 4:00 PM - drop in when you can and stay as long as you like. A Hawk Identification Workshop will be held at 2:00 PM. Come for a short while or the whole day. Partial funding for this class provided through a grant from Stewart?s Shops Holiday Match Program. Gloversville Youth Fishing Derby at Wohlfarth's Pond
Join us on Saturday April 26 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the 11th Annual Youth Fishing Derby at Wohlfarth's Pond. This event is open to children of Gloversville 15 and under. Bring your own poles and earthworms. This will be a hook and worm, catch and release competition. No Mealworms. No corn. No pheromones. Registration starts at 9 a.m. and will be open throughout the day. Trophies will be awarded for the most fish caught, largest fish caught in each age group, first fish caught and smallest fish caught. Each child who catches a fish will receive an award ribbon in recognition of their accomplishment. Refreshments will be available for purchase. The Albany Area Amateur Astronomers will be hosting the following star parties in 2025 at Landis Arboretum: Saturday, Mar 29 ? 8:00pm (new moon) Saturday, Apr 26 - 8:30pm (night before new moon) Saturday, May 24 ? 9:00pm (new moon -2) Wednesday, June 25 ? 9:00pm (new moon) Sunday, July 27 ? 9:00pm (new moon +2) Thursday, August 21 ? 7:30pm AAAA Annual Meeting and Stargazing (new moon -1) Sunday, Sept 21? 7:30pm (new moon) Saturday, October 25 ? 7:00pm (waxing crescent moon) Star parties are cancelled if the skies will be mostly cloudy. Come view the stars and planets in Landis' dark skies with members of the Albany Area Amateur Astronomers. A variety of telescopes will be set up for viewing the heavens, revealing nebulae, star clusters, galaxies, double stars, planets, and other celestial objects.
