Two-Part Comic Style Drawing & Painting Class with Jake Willwerth, Instructor at Paul Nigra Center
Two-Part Comic Drawing Class Friday, February 28 and March 7 5:00-6:30 p.m. Cost*: $60 pre-registration required Plan, create and draw your own comic! In this class, students will plan a comic based on a story they make up or from existing literature, and make a large-scale painted piece inspired by the work of Roy Lichtenstein. Class 1 (2/28): Brainstorm ideas, write comic story and draw out/plan the comic by drawing the panel/panels, story, any dialogue, etc. May sketch out the comic onto whatever canvas will be used. Possibly start painting, time permitting. Class 2 (3/7): Using painting materials and canvas, paint the comic onto the provided canvas. *Members receive a 20% discount. Johnstown Drama Club Presents: Freaky Friday One Act Edition When an uber-organized mother and her spontaneous teenage daughter magically swap bodies, they have just one day to put things right. Masquerading as each other, they must work together to solve the mystery of how to break the spell. By spending a day in each other's shoes, Katherine and Ellie come to appreciate one another in a way they never could have imagined. In the end, both learn the true power of love and the strength of the bond between a mother and daughter in this heartfelt and hilarious adaptation. Based on the beloved 1972 novel by Mary Rodgers and the hit Disney films, Freaky Friday features a book by Bridget Carpenter - the co-executive producer and writer on the beloved TV hits, ''Friday Night Lights'' and ''Parenthood'' - and music and lyrics by Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey - the Pulitzer Prize-winning composers of Next to Normal.
