Bluebird Trail Walk #1 – “The Early Bluebird Gets the Nest Box” at Landis Arboretum
Location: Meet at the Welcome Center Registration: Members: Individuals $5, families $15; Non-members: $15, family $25 Join us from 1:00 to 3:30 PM to walk Landis' Bluebird Trail. Our Bluebird Trail consists of 40+ nest boxes. These boxes are spread over a large area. The three species of birds that typically use our nest boxes are Eastern Bluebirds, Tree Swallows and Northern House Wrens. Our goal will be to visit most of the nest boxes and see each of these species up close. Along the way we?ll talk about birds, how to attract them to nest boxes, and anything else that crosses our minds. Please be prepared for a 2.5-mile, 2+ hour hike, with some small hills. Dress for the weather. Waterproof footwear and clothing appropriate for hiking through tall grass are recommended. You may also want to bring binoculars, camera, water and a snack. Depending on the springtime weather, our bluebirds start laying eggs mid-April to early May and the first batch of fledglings is expected mid-May to early June. The swallows and wrens typically start a week or two behind the bluebirds. Class limited to 5 participants. Preregistration required: contact us at info@landisarboretum.org to register. You will be contacted to confirm registration or that you have been placed on the wait list. Instructor: Shayne Mitchell Location: Meet at the Welcome Center
The Joni Project: A Celebration of The Music of Joni Mitchell at The Glove Theatre
The Glove Theatre is proud to welcome THE JONI PROJECT -- CELEBRATING THE MUSIC OF JONI MITCHELL featuring Katie Pearlman and her band! The Joni Project is thrilled to be making their Gloversville debut! The Joni Project formed as a tribute in sound and spirit to Joni Mitchell, one of music?s greatest and most innovative artists. The band is fronted by New York's remarkable multi-instrumentalist and singer Katie Pearlman, who impressively plays Joni's songs in their original open guitar tunings; and includes jazz and jam band mainstays Dave Berg (guitar), Dan Ehrlich (bass), Alan Lerner (drums), Mark Mancini (keyboards), and Premik Russell Tubbs (saxophone and flute). Collectively, they?ve performed with members of the Grateful Dead, The Band, The Doors, the Neville Brothers, and so many others. Premik Russell Tubbs alone has played with Carlos Santana, Whitney Houston, Sting, James Taylor, Lady Gaga, Herbie Hancock, and more. Together, they bring fresh interpretation to Joni?s legendary tunes from their many eras and genres ? particularly from the time of her stunning and dynamic collaboration with Jaco Pastorius, Pat Metheny and Michael Brecker. But The Joni Project celebrates it all! - from Both Sides Now, Big Yellow Taxi, Chelsea Morning and Help Me, to Raised on Robbery and Free Man in Paris. If you're a fan of Joni Mitchell, or if you just enjoy a brilliant jazz/jam inspired band, this is a show you won't want to miss! ''The Joni Project is quite simply the finest and most musically sophisticated tribute to Joni on the scene today!'' - Jim Faith - New York concert promoter and producer of The Great South Bay Music Festival. All ages welcome! 21+ to drink/purchase adult beverages.
