2026 Adirondack Outdoorsman Show at the Johnstown Moose
The show is geared towards the tastes of Hunters, Fishermen and Outdoors Enthusiasts, with exhibits containing items for sale pertaining to: hunting & fishing gear/supplies, guns, archery, trapping, camping, hiking, snow shoeing, guides & charter services, taxidermy, custom ADK clothing designs and antique hunting & fishing gear. ?Featured Guests? will include outdoor survivalist Melanie Sawyer, turkey hunting expert/author Mike Joyner, and VP of Major League Fishing Michael Mulone. Sawyer is an outdoor skills instructor, historical forager, fisherman and hunter. She was a participant of the premier survival show created by the History Channel, ALONE. Sawyer will be on hand at the show teaching about life off the grid and survival & foraging skills. Joyner is a dedicated turkey hunter who?s obsession has led to him publishing four books on the subject; ?Hills of Truxton: Stories and Travels of a Turkey Hunter?, ?Tales from the Turkey Woods: Mornings of My Better Days?, ?Grand Days in the Turkey Woods?, and ?A Walk In the Turkey Woods: Wandering Thoughts and Revalations?. Joyner will be on hand at the show to discuss Turkey hunting strategies and will have copies of all his works for sale/signing. Michael Mulone is a seasoned executive of the fishing and outdoor industry. A native of Gloversville New York, Mulone is currently the Vice President, Sponsorship & Business Development for Major League Fishing. Mulone returns to the area to participate in the show and discuss Major Leagues 2026 events in the Northeast and nationwide. Door prizes of gear and equipment will be given away throughout the weekend. Admission to the event is $5 for adults and $1 for Children (under 16). 2026 Annual Spring Hawk Watch & Hawk Identification Workshop at Landis Arboretum
Location: The Nicholas J. Juried Meeting House at Landis Registration: Members: $5/person, $15/family; non-members: $15/person, $25/family. Join us for this annual nature event at the Arboretum, a day observing hawks in migration over the Schoharie Valley. We will gather at the Meeting House and hope to see bald eagles, sharp-shinned hawks, osprey, and the longest travelers, broad-winged hawks - among other raptors on the move. The Watch begins at 10:00 AM and continues all day until 4:00 PM - drop in when you can and stay as long as you like. A Hawk Identification Workshop will be held at 2:00 PM. 2026 Morning Bird Walk at Landis Arboretum
Location: Meet at the lower Parking Lot Registration: Members: $5/person, $15/family; non-members: $15/person, $25/family Join us from 6:00 - 9:00 am for this always popular Arboretum program. We hope to see or hear over 40 species of birds in the forest, fields, and water areas of Landis. Wear footwear appropriate for muddy conditions. Binoculars will be available. 2026 Winter Carnival with the City of Johnstown
Join us Saturday, March 7th at the Recreation Park on the corner of Briggs Street & Jansen Avenue for some LOCAL, FREE, WINTER FUN, right here in the City of Johnstown, New York! 🔥 Welcome Bonfire ? Kick off the ❄️ 2026 Winter Carnival 🎪 at noon and warm up anytime during the event. ⛸️ Ice Skating ? Our new rink is waiting for it's time to shine! Note: Please plan to bring your own equipment for ice skating. 🛷 Sledding Hill ? Who doesn't like sledding down a big pile of snow!?! We will have a handful of donated sleds but feel free to bring your own if you have them. 🎯 Outdoor Games ? Show us your aim with Snowball-Can-Smash and Garbage-Pail-Pong ? just to name a few! ⛄️ Snow Sculpture Gardens ? Come down early and build a snow sculpture ? this tradition started over 50 years ago and we?re bringing it back! We?re hoping for a nice upstate NY winter day with fresh snow ❄️, bluebird skies and lots of sunshine ☀️ ? 2026 Woodcock Search and Sneak-up
Location: Meet at the Farmhouse Registration: Members: $5/person, $15/family; non-members: $15/person, $25/family The American Woodcock is a shorebird that has adapted to upland habitats. In the spring males return to open fields to sing and do an aerial flight display to attract females. Join us from 8:00 - 9:30 PM when we will search for and try to sneak up on singing males and learn about this once in the year behavior. In case of a tie, first and second place will be added together and divided between the winners!
