Sizzle & Steak Productions LLC Presents: Love Letters at the SUNY FM Rao Theater
We are thrilled to host Sizzle & Steak Productions LLC for their very first show, ?Love Letters,? debuting in July right here at the beautiful Rao Theater! 🎭 A 1988 Pulitzer Prize finalist about the lifelong platonic relationship between a married man and a woman through the letters and cards they exchange with one another over 50 years, from childhood to adulthood, A.R. Gurney?s ?Love Letters? examines a deep, complicated friendship which often explores love, loss and missed connections. The July 24th premiere and July 26th matinee features longtime Gloversville Public Library Assistant and SUNY FMCC alum Sonny Duross as Andrew Makepeace Ladd III. Staged in cooperation with the Foothills Arts Council, ?Love Letters? will also be performed at the Rao Theater on Friday, July 31st at the same time, on Saturdays, July 25th and August 1st at 3 pm and on Sundays, July 26th and August 2nd at 3 pm. She has poor self-worth and education, but incredibly good looks and a sweet and vulnerable demeanor. Gender: female Age: 25 to 35 Vocal range top: D5 Vocal range bottom: G#3 Mr. Mushnik The seasoned owner of the failing East Side flower shop and Seymour's nosy boss. He is profit-driven, greedy, and manipulative. Gender: male Age: 55 to 65 Vocal range top: F4 Vocal range bottom: G2 Orin Scrivello An egotistical dentist with a passion for leather and sadistic tendencies. Audrey's abusive boyfriend, who is targeted by Seymour. Gender: male Age: 30 to 40 Vocal range top: G4 Vocal range bottom: G2 The Plant (Audrey II) Puppet. An anthropomorphic cross between a Venus flytrap and an avocado, the plant has an appetite for human flesh that is appeased by Seymour. Puppeteer doubles as other sizes of the plant. Voice Of The Plant An actor/vocalist located offstage. The voice is that of a conniving, street-smart 'villain.' A funky Rhythm and Blues voice is best. Seymour Krelborn, a shy and awkward assistant at a failing flower shop on Skid Row, stumbles upon a strange, exotic plant after a mysterious total eclipse of the sun. He names it ?Audrey II? in honor of his kind-hearted co-worker and secret crush, Audrey. To his shock, the plant begins to speak?smooth, sassy, and soulful?and reveals a disturbing appetite for fresh human blood. As Seymour?s small offerings help Audrey II grow to monstrous proportions, his life transforms. The shop thrives, the media takes notice, and romance seems possible. But the price of success is steep: the plant?s demands escalate from drops of blood to full human meals.
