Paint Downtown Gloversville Purple
The Fulton County Center for Regional Growth?s (CRG) Gloversville Downtown Development Specialist, in partnership with the Fulton Montgomery County Regional Chamber of Commerce, is proud to announce the launch of ?Paint Downtown Gloversville Purple.? This initiative will run from June 1 through June 6, 2026, and is aimed at raising awareness and funds for the Alzheimer?s Association. Dressing Up the City in Purple Throughout the first week of June, downtown businesses, property owners, and residents are encouraged to ?dress up? the city in purple. Local eateries and shops are invited to participate by creating purple window displays and offering purple-themed food and drink creations or unique retail specials. The initiative culminates on Saturday, June 6, during the Southern Adirondack Wine & Food Festival, an event sponsored by the Gloversville Recreation Commission. Festival attendees are encouraged to wear purple or make a direct donation as they enjoy the day?s festivities. ?The Gloversville Recreation Commission does a phenomenal job year after year bringing the Southern Adirondack Wine & Food Festival to life, creating an event that has become a true staple for our downtown,? said Jennifer Donovan, Gloversville Downtown Development Specialist. ?We are so grateful for their support in allowing us to weave this initiative into such a popular festival. Adding this layer of activity?from the purple window displays to the themed creations?not only brightens our streets but also turns a great community celebration into a powerful platform for raising awareness and funds for the Alzheimer?s Association.? All proceeds benefit the Alzheimer?s Association, a global leader in dementia research and care. The Northeastern New York Chapter serves Fulton County and the City of Gloversville directly, providing vital local resources and hosting regular community meetings at the Gloversville Public Library. How to Support: Participate: Visit downtown businesses June 1?6 and look for purple specials. Wear Purple: Show your solidarity by wearing purple on June 1 ? American Cancer Society Relay for Life at Gloversville High School

We encourage you to invite friends and family currently living with cancer or survivors to attend and join in the celebration. All attendees of the event are asked to line the track during the survivor lap and cheer on our survivors. Pro tip: Bring noise makers, pom-poms, anything you bring to a pep rally to cheer those survivors on! Celebration of Caregivers After the Survivor Lap, caregivers are invited to join the survivors. A caregiver is a friend or family member that helped a person with cancer, regardless of if they are still with us. It may even be a healthcare worker. Attendees are again asked to line the track and cheer for our caregivers! Meaningful Luminaria We will take time to remember those we have lost to cancer and reflect on the journey of those who have survived. At most events, after the sun sets, Relay teams help light pre-made luminaria bags that are dedicated in honor, or in memory, of a loved one. If you would like to make a donation or fundraise with luminaria - you can do so here. Opportunity to Fight Back We come together as a community to fight back against cancer. Invite your family and friends to attend the event and support you and your fellow Relayers' fundraising efforts. Commit to finding ways to fight back against cancer.
Neon Avenue: The Music of the Dead - But Different with Glove Theatre
The Glove Theatre welcomes back NEON AVENUE -- playing the music of the Dead - but different! ''In a world where many fans prefer Joe Russo?s Almost Dead as their way to listen to live Grateful Dead music, Neon Avenue lives along those same lines, with high energy shredding and not trying to be ?the band? themselves'' ~Frankie Cavone, Mirth Films Over the past several years, Neon Avenue has made quite a stir in the ever popular (and saturated) Gratefully-inspired tribute scene, growing quickly to become one of the bigger draws in the Upstate NY capital region Dead scene. The band brings a fresh take on the Grateful music that you know and love while placing an emphasis on improvisation, unique setlist construction, deeper cuts into the grateful songbook and a primal energy that they draw from their loyal fans during live performances. With past performances at Lark Hall, Putnam Place, Unihog, Rustic Barn and many other headlining shows around the Capital region, the word has gotten out about this band. Composed of veteran musicians from numerous local groups like Formula 5, Slipknot! (80's/90's Dead tribute), Stone Revival Band, Knot Dead, Jocamo, and more, this combination of players has set out to push the boundaries of the standard Dead tribute. The group of Joe Davis (Formula 5), Mike Urbon (Knot Dead), Mike Cassels (Stone Revival Band, Jocamo, Knot Dead), Mike McDonald (Formula 5, Knot Dead) and Doug Klein (Slipknot, Robanic, Knot Dead) were re-inspired playing the music of the Grateful Dead, Jerry Garcia Band, Ratdog, and others. While existing in an endless sea of 1970's era Grateful Dead tributes, this group strives to separate itself with a dedication to unique arrangements of setlists and song segues, utilizing extended improvisation, playing deeper cuts from all eras of the Dead, JGB, and Ratdog songbook. Playing music of The Dead -- but Different! Come ready to dance -- the dance floor will be open! All ages welcome! 21+ to drink/purchase adult beverages.
