Memento Mori: Colonial Tales of the Macabre at Johnson Hall State Historic Site
250 years ago, colonists in the Mohawk Valley shared chilling tales of death and supernatural horrors brought from their homelands or born of legends in North America. Join us at Johnson Hall as storyteller Campbell Higle returns to recount tales of the restless dead and ghostly apparitions, from the villages and graveyards of Europe to the dark forests and mansions of the Mohawk and Hudson valleys. Featuring grisly favorites and old frights newly told, this evening is sure to thrill and chill even the heartiest bones! Note Well: This program includes tragic and terrifying stories of death, murder, cannibalism, and vengeful ghosts, and is not recommended for young children. The Albany Area Amateur Astronomers will be hosting the following star parties in 2025 at Landis Arboretum: Saturday, Mar 29 ? 8:00pm (new moon) Saturday, Apr 26 - 8:30pm (night before new moon) Saturday, May 24 ? 9:00pm (new moon -2) Wednesday, June 25 ? 9:00pm (new moon) Sunday, July 27 ? 9:00pm (new moon +2) Thursday, August 21 ? 7:30pm AAAA Annual Meeting and Stargazing (new moon -1) Sunday, Sept 21? 7:30pm (new moon) Saturday, October 25 ? 7:00pm (waxing crescent moon) Star parties are cancelled if the skies will be mostly cloudy. Come view the stars and planets in Landis' dark skies with members of the Albany Area Amateur Astronomers. A variety of telescopes will be set up for viewing the heavens, revealing nebulae, star clusters, galaxies, double stars, planets, and other celestial objects.
