YMCA Lifeguard Certification Course
This nationally recognized YMCA Lifeguard Certification course prepares participants to prevent, recognize, and respond to aquatic emergencies while maintaining a safe and welcoming pool environment. Through hands-on training and skill development, participants build confidence in water rescue, surveillance, first aid, CPR, and teamwork. More than certification, this course develops leadership, communication, and responsibility, equipping lifeguards to serve as role models and trusted safety leaders in their community.
Requirements
To participate in the YMCA Lifeguard Certification Course, candidates must meet the following requirements: Age Requirement: Participants must be at least 15 years old by the final day of the course. Swimming Ability: Candidates must be able to complete a 300-yard continuous swim using front crawl (freestyle) and/or breaststroke without stopping. Treading Water: Candidates must be able to tread water for 2 minutes, using legs only. Timed Retrieval (Brick Test): Candidates must be able to retrieve a 10-pound object from a depth of 7?10 feet and return it to the starting point within 1 minute and 40 seconds.Date and Time
