Pick a scene from Charles Dickens' famous A Christmas Carol and learn some pen and ink techniques to make a 19th century-style illustration you can duplicate for homemade holiday cards or gift prints! Scenes should be kept simpler than the illustration pictured to fit the time frame. Dead-Zep: A tribute to The Grateful Dead and Led Zeppelin at The Glove Theatre
It?s somewhat boggling to think of Jerry Garcia and Jimmy Page swapping riffs ? the beatific Buddha and the slashing, edgy Page. But as veteran player of Grateful Dead music Waynard Scheller noticed one night, the chords of the Dead anthem ?St. Stephen? merged seamlessly into ?Whole Lotta Love.? Then he sat down and found lots of pairs of songs that fit together. And thus was born ?Dead-Zep,? a new band formed from his Rainbow Full of Love to mash up the two repertoires They not only flow from Zep to Dead and back again, they play Zep songs like the GD and Dead songs the way Zep would?which makes for a fascinating, sometimes shocking evening. Hearing ?Ramble On? suddenly dissolve into ?St. Stephen? can be amazing to the point of a slight and interesting sense of disorientation. It?s a wide, wide world. Waynard has been touring up and down the East Coast for years, delighting Dead Heads and other listeners. He founded Dead-Zep with a rotating cast in 2018, and then ran into the pandemic. Drawing and Painting Studio Session 3: Acrylic Practice Thursday, January 30 4:30p-7:00p Grand Gallery Cost*: $125 for the full 5-part class, $25 for individual class-- Pre-registration required, materials not included This multi-session studio class will help you improve your skills in drawing and painting. The series of open-studio art classes will give you the chance to practice with various materials and build up your skills. We will work with graphite, charcoal and acrylic to complete multiple fine-art compositions. Each class will begin with a group critique of the prior artwork; then we will go into the lesson of the next material and begin working on our composition. Week 3- Group Critique of Week 2 composition Color wheel, color themes, color scales, tinting and shading. Acrylic painting from observation. To reduce the cost of the class, students will be required to purchase materials. A class materials list is provided. Got talent? Want to sing some karaoke in a big room? Or, maybe you just want to bask in the talent of others? The Glove Theatre's monthly Open Mic is the place for you! The Glove's Open Mic welcomes singers (we even have Karaoke available!), dancers, slam poets, magicians, stand-up comedians, and variety artists of all kinds to take The Glove Theatre?s mainstage for a 10 minute maximum set. Polish up your repertoire, stretch, warm-up, and strut your stuff at The Glove! Open mic: 7.00pm - 9.30pm (sign-up begins at 6.30pm) $5.00 suggested donation for audience members.
