SUMMARY:Saratoga Arts Annual Fundraiser: The Foundation Experience
DESCRIPTION:Saratoga Arts invites you to our annual fundraising event\, the Foundation Experience.\n\nJoin us at the Night Owl\n\n-Farm-to-table food by Farmacy\n\n-Open bar\n\n-Mesmerizing performances with a Shakespearean inspired theme.\n\nAll in celebration of our ever-expanding community at Saratoga Arts.\n\nThis year we are pleased to honor Cecilia Frittelli & Richard Lockwood\, Frittelli & Lockwood\, makers of handwoven clothing.\n\nCecilia and Richard are founding members of the Beekman Street Arts district and fixtures of the arts in Saratoga Springs. Their warmth\, community-mindedness and passion for supporting the arts in the region are why we are very excited to celebrate them this year.\n\nGet tickets here: https://saratoga-arts.org/event-6221992\n\nThank you to the Honorary Committee!\n\nPamela Abrams & Paul Kligfield\n\nJeff & Bart Altamari\n\nAmejo Wyn Amyot\n\nEllen Beal\n\nWilliam & Maureen Bergen\n\nBusiness for Good\n\nBelinda Colon\n\nEllen-Deane Cummins\n\nJoan Dash\n\nThomas Caulfield & Sandra Eng-Caulfield\n\nEmily Farnham & Tim Cartwright\n\nEric & Jacqueline Foster\n\nLynne Gelber\n\nBarbara Glaser\n\nMarie & Phil Glotzbach\n\nElizabeth & Jonathan Haynes\n\nIan Berry & Jessica Eisenthal\n\nHoliday Inn Saratoga Springs\n\nAlice & Keith Kaplan\n\nSally & Larry King\n\nTiina Loite & Fred Conrad\n\nBill Lynch\n\nMarie McCillicuddy\n\nSusan Miller\n\nBeth & Tom Moeller\n\nJessica Niles\n\nMary Ellen & William O'Loughlin\n\nSusan & Ken Rittzenberg\n\nSusan Rivers\n\nMary Estelle Ryckman\n\nTracy Savage\n\nDexter & Deborah Senft\n\nWill Severin & Mary Jane Hansen\n\nNancy Sharples & Geoff Bornemann\n\nJudy & Kevin Soukup\n\nCindy Spence\n\nTamera & Jason Tepper\n\nAllan & Catherine Weatherwax\n\nGarry & Joyce White\n\nWitt Construction\, Inc.\n\nHonorary Committee tickets are still available.\n\nWhat is the "Foundation Experience"?\n\nThe Foundation was formed in 1811 in response to the growing temperance movement in Saratoga during that time. The town placed a ban on gambling\, drinking\, and dance\, resulting in the suffering of the local arts and culture. Simultaneously\, Gideon Putnam began developing Congress Hall Hotel\, where arts patrons could congregate in secret and indulge in forbidden activities and culture\, while regular hotel business carried on around and above them. The Foundation held hidden performances\, drinking\, dances\, card games\, circus acts\, and more all while its members worked covertly towards public acceptance of artistic recreation. Eventually Congress Hall was demolished.\n\nHowever the Saratoga Arts building now sits on Congress Hall's footprint\, and so The Foundation lives on \n\nIn an effort to subvert what's come to be expected from a typical gala\, Saratoga Arts' Foundation events offer guests something different. Our Foundation events include all the familiar features: food\, libation\, and music while inviting the audience to engage in entertainment in new and unexpected ways a kind of "Experiential Art" with very few details being shared prior. The Foundation aims to push boundaries in our creative community and surprise our patrons with innovative artistic experiences.
