SUMMARY:Resisting Revolution: Experiences and Perspectives of Upstate Loyalist at Johnson Hall State Historic Site
DESCRIPTION:With Special Guest Presenters Anne Clothier & Tom Pettigrew\n\nWhen the violence of the Revolution came to upstate New York\, many\, including some of the most vulnerable people in society\, chose to oppose it. In picturing the Revolution\, those who sided with the Crown are often painted with a broad brush as wealthy elites\, out of touch with the plight of poor Revolutionaries. Yet\, in reality their actual backgrounds and experiences varied widely across the whole of the economic\, social\, and political spectrums.\n\nJoin us Friday\, April 17th\, at 6:00pm as we explore the stories of Loyalist and British-allied civilians in the upper-Hudson and Mohawk valleys\, with a pair of presentations by local historical experts Anne Clothier and Tom Pettigrew\, prefaced by an introduction from Johnson Hall Interpretive Programs Assistant\, Ian Mumpton.\n\n \n\nThis is a public program\, however. due to limited seating\, - . Please call - - to confirm your seat.
