DESCRIPTION:TRICK OR TREAT: "Trick or Treating" in the city of Amsterdam will be held on Halloween Night October 31. It will be conducted between the hours of 6pm and 8pm.\n\n\n\nTrick or treaters are encouraged to be accompanied by an adult\, and to always be alert to traffic around them.\n\nTraditionally\, these children are more at risk from cars\, than they are from tainted candy.\n\n\n\nResidents who wish to be visited by the trick or treaters should keep their porch lights on. Children are reminded to only stop at houses that have the porch lights lit. Parents are reminded to report any suspicious treats that are given to their children. In addition\, it is always a good idea to have trick-or-treaters restrict their visits to houses and neighborhoods with which they are familiar.\n\n\n\nAs in other years\, the Amsterdam Police Department will have extra patrols on duty the night of Halloween. This will help to ensure that the children and their parents are afforded the safest Halloween possible.
