DESCRIPTION:Become a certified American Red Cross Lifeguard and gain the skills needed to prevent\, recognize\, and respond to aquatic emergencies. This nationally recognized certification prepares participants for lifeguard employment and leadership in an aquatic environment. \n\n\n\nTo participate\, students must meet the following prerequisites:\n\n- Be 15 years old by the last day of the course\n\n- Complete a 300-yard continuous swim (freestyle and/or breaststroke\, no stopping)\n\n- Tread water for 2 minutes using legs only\n\n- Successfully complete the brick test by retrieving a 10-lb object from 7 10 feet of water and returning it within 1 minute and 40 seconds\n\n\n\nWhy Become a Certified Lifeguard?\n\n- Earn a nationally recognized lifeguard certification\n\n- Develop leadership\, communication\, and teamwork skills\n\n- Learn lifesaving techniques including water rescue\, CPR\, AED use\, and first aid\n\n- Work in a supportive\, mission-driven organization\n\n- Gain experience in a mission-driven\, supportive organization\n\n- Explore flexible scheduling opportunities\, especially ideal for students\n\n\n\nFor questions\, please contact:\n\nZara Kluska\, Aquatics Coordinator\n\n  jkluska@fultoncountyymca.org\n\n  (518) 725-0627 ext. 0627
